Projector FAQs

How do I connect wirelessly to an external screen?

You can connect wirelessly by connecting your external screen to an AppleTV and then wireless connecting your iPad to the AppleTV. For specific step-by-step instructions, check out http://hookpctotv.com/ipad-to-hd-tv-with-apple-tv-config.

(An AppleTV is a $69 box you can hook up to any TV or Projector with an HDMI cable.)

You can also wirelessly stream to a Mac running Reflector or AirServer which act as an AirPlay receiver.

How do I set up a wired connection?

For specific step-by-step instructions, check out this guide

What are the requirements for wireless streaming?

Wireless streaming requires AirPlay mirroring which is only available on the 2nd and 3rd generation iPads and the iPhone 4s and later. If you have the iPad 1 or the iPhone 4 or lower, you will have to use a wired connection.

Is there any delay when streaming wirelessly?

As long as you have a reliable WiFi connection, the latency is barely noticeable and streaming feels almost instant. However, we have found that videos can stutter if too many things are happening on your device in the background, including push notifications. If you notice video stuttering, it is most likely because you have too many push notifications configured for other apps. Push notifications alert you of updates for apps, like when your device tells you you have new email. We recommend turning off as many push notifications as possible in your device Settings.

Why do you charge a monthly fee?

The small monthly fee helps us cover the cost of streaming large media files from our servers to your iPad and the continual costs involved in developing and updating the app.

Do I have to have a Planning Center account?

Yes, all of the information used in Projector is downloaded from your Planning Center account.

Is there a version of Projector I can run on my computer?

Is Projector available for any devices other than iPad & iPhone?

Projector was made to be portable and wireless and is currently available on the iPad and iPhone.

What types of media are supported?

Standard images, videos, and Powerpoint files can be used in Projector. Powerpoint slides are automatically converted to images, but any animations or transitions will not be included. If you have a Keynote file, you will need to convert it to a Powerpoint file in order to use it.

  • Video – H.264 Video & MPEG4 video – .mov .mp4 .m4v
  • Images – .jpg .png
  • Powerpoint – .ppt .pptx – Powerpoint slides are converted to static images without animations

Do I have to have an internet connection?

You have to connect to the internet to download your plan and the media attached, but once it’s downloaded to your device, you can run Projector without being connected to the internet. If you plan on streaming wirelessly, you do have to remain connected to the same WiFi network as your AppleTV.

How many people can use Projector?

Projector is a free app from the app store and can be used by anyone in your account once Projector has been enabled for your account. To enable Projector for your account, your primary account administrator needs to go the site settings page, and click Enable Projector from the sidebar.

Where do the lyrics come from?

Lyrics come from the lyrics & chord chart generator built into the Planning Center website. Planning Center allows you to enter lyrics, chords and notes and then it transposes chords to any key to make chord chart PDFs, strips out the chords to make lyrics PDFs, and removes chords, notes and section headings to create slides in Projector.

Here is a lesson from our online manual on Lyrics & Chords .
