Finding any image for your event or group is hard, and finding a quality photo is even more difficult! It’s amazing how something so simple can often take up so much of our time. To help speed up this process, we have added a little something to Registrations and Groups.

Introducing our integration with Unsplash!

Unsplash is a website where photographers upload their high quality work for anyone to use, for free! Now, through our integration with Registrations and Groups, you can get photos from Unsplash to use for your event or group image. There are no additional fees on your end, and you can change images as frequently as you want!

Registrations

In Registrations, under the Details tab, edit your event image and click Free photos. We will automatically enter the name of your event into the search field to help get some ideas started. If you want to search for something else, type the description in the search box, click on the photo you want, and it will immediately become the event’s image.

Groups

In Groups, go to the Settings page of the group you want to add an image to and you will see a Free Photos option next to Upload Image. To find an image on Unsplash, click Free Photos, enter a search term, select the image you want, and you are done!

Note: It’s important that all content accessible through Planning Center is clean, and family-friendly. Unsplash meets those requirements. For more information, you can see Unsplash’s submission guidelines here.

We don’t normally talk about how features come to be, but in this case, it’s a little more interesting since it’s the result of a free week project. Once a quarter, Planning Center developers and designers get two “free” weeks to work on a project they think could be a neat feature or improvement to one of our applications! The integration with Unsplash was created during free weeks by DMa, a developer on our Giving team; Will, a designer on our Global Design team; and Jeremy, the Giving Product Manager.

Let us know what you think, and have fun!
